Catholicism in Modern Day China
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 6 page paper discussing the political and religious issues involved in Catholicism in modern day China. Although the Catholic religion has been a part of Chinese life for the past 400 years, the last 50 years has seen a political division in the Church because of the 1949 Communist victory. The Communist government created the “official” Catholic Church in China which essentially divided the Church into two groups: those who followed the Chinese official Catholic Church and those who followed the Vatican who had to go underground to practice their beliefs. Since that time, the Vatican, Beijing and the followers of the Catholic faith in China have undergone a tumultuous journey on the path to reconciliation and normalization. Challenges of Environmental Sustainability
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page paper discussing two environmental problems in China (the Three Gorges Dam and air pollution) and measures that the government has or may take to mitigate the environmental effects. In contrast is the experience of Singapore, which adopted stringent environmental regulations when its economic growth led to environmental degradation. Singapore was able to address growing environmental problems before they came to be ingrained in systems and operations, and after MNEs became dependent on Singapore's markets and workforce. Likely its small size also contributed to dedication to environmental sustainability, an advantage that China does not have. Bibliography lists 6 sources. PowerPoint presentation available.

Challenges to E commerce in Hong Kong
[ send me this paper ]
This 59 page paper considers the challenges faced by e-commerce and internet trading to businesses in Hong Kong. E-commerce is now a popular way of trading. For a country such as Hong Kong where international trade is required to sustain the economy and services are the primary sector due to the lack of local natural resources, e-commerce must be considered as a way if increasing business for both small and large companies as well as the benefits that it can bring to the economy as a whole. All projections indicate that e-commerce levels will increase rapidly over the next few years. This is an opportunity many business in Hong Kong can take advantage of with the advantage of the support form their Chinese government but the benefits of an autonomous region within that country. However, to take advantage of the potential in e-commerce businesses and government needs to realise the advantages and challenges. The potential decease of barriers and lower overheads may be balanced by the potential increase in competition, problems such as disintermediation, security and the lack of existing business models to follow. The research outline, which follows a lengthy literature review, suggests some primary research looking at specific businesses, to develop a model which can then be followed by new entrants and help those who are already in the sector. This will increase value by enabling resources to be maximised, benefiting both businesses and their customers as well as the Hong Kong economy. The bibliography cites 34 sources.
