Consumer boycotts of large companies selling Chinese-made goods, however, is an effective measure that can have the most immediate results. Companies such as Gap, Nike and Toys “R” Us have come under such consumer pressure that they now police the contract manufacturers they use to ensure that the goods that they sell do not originate in Asian sweatshops.
